Bien choisir son carrelage ?

How to choose your tiles?

Many criteria must be taken into account when choosing the right tile for your needs. Wear and scratch resistance, tile thickness, and adherence standards—here's an overview to help you make your choice:

PEI Rating: Measures the tile's resistance to wear, essential for high-traffic areas.

MOHS Index: Evaluates scratch resistance, especially for floors subjected to heavy or abrasive objects.

Water Absorption: A tile with low porosity is recommended for damp rooms or outdoor spaces.

Thickness: The thicker a tile, the more resistant it is to impacts and the more durable it is over time.

Adherence (R-standard): For wet surfaces, opt for a tile with a good adherence rating (R9 to R13).

Frost Resistance: Essential for outdoor tiles exposed to bad weather and climatic variations.

Anti-slip rating: To be considered for bathrooms and patio tiles.

Good to know: what is the best tile quality?

To more easily assess the quality of a tile, we advise you to refer to the UPEC classification, defined by the following four main criteria:

  • U (Wear): Indicates resistance to abrasion caused by foot traffic.

  • P (Punching): Measures resistance to static or dynamic loads.

  • E (Water): Evaluates resistance to humidity and infiltration.

  • C (Chemical products): Indicates resistance to chemical agents and stains
